The Master Chorale holds auditions for new singers late in August and early January every year.  It's really not scary, so please do come and try out for us!   Watch for advertisements in the local Flagstaff paper (the Daily Sun), too.

During the season, rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM on the NAU campus.  One or two dress rehearsals are held just prior to every concert.

Dues: Singer/Members pay dues as established by the Board of Directors,  currently $110 ($55 each semester) for the 2007-2008 season. Dues may be  subject to change for the 2008-2009 concert season. However, no qualified singer who passes the audition will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.

Music:  Generally, the Chorale purchases the music we use.  However, from time to time you may be required to purchase your own music score.  For instance, you are expected to purchase your own copy of Handel's Messiah for our annual seasonal performance.  (If you are buying a new score, get the Novello edition, edited by Watkins Shaw.  If you already have a different score, it will work, too, but you may have to add a lot of editing remarks!)  Such scores can usually be purchased through Cedar Music (next to Bookman's) here in Flagstaff.

Music Folder: You need to have a black binder or folder for performances.  Your copy of the Messiah may be bound in black at Kinko's, if you prefer.

Concert Dress: Women are expected to purchase their chorale dress through the Costume Chair, and provide their own black shoes and black hose.  Men are expected to furnish their own black tuxedo (personal, borrowed or rented), and must also provide their own white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, black shoes and socks.

         2) sing their prepared song
         3) sight read three rhythmic and melodic examples, and
         4) sing back pitches played on the piano to check tonal memory.

All auditionees will be notified of their acceptance after all auditions are completed (August 28).

Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 2, 2008 From 7 to 9:30 PM.
